Preamble
An earthquake is a violent and abrupt shaking of the ground, caused by movement between tectonic plates along a fault line in the earth’s crust. They result in soil liquefaction, landslides, fissures, avalanches, fires and tsunamis. Disruptions caused by natural disasters are severe and now more critical due to climate change.
An assessment report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change established the fact that human-caused emissions are causing temperature increases, in turn leading to more extreme weather.
